Mini dress, yoga pants, tied top… All those things appeal to the sexual desire men have for women, which is fine, but despite those, there is one thing men love to see women wear that have absolutely nothing to do with sex.
And that accessory, is things you’re going to want to know because, upon first impression, if you can pique a guy’s interest in a way that is nonsexual, you have already increased your chances of forging a real connection with someone outside of one that is purely sexual.
So if you’re a woman who is looking for a man – not a man with benefits – don’t immediately start aping your sex appeal to lure in the wrong guys whose romantic desires don’t align with yours.
Try wearing something as simple as a bow tie and lure the RIGHT guy in for the RIGHT reasons.
Your first thought after I said bowtie must be: “Is it acceptable for a woman to wear an item that is traditionally the provenance of men, either casually or in the work environment? Should gentlemen stick to gentlemen’s garments and ladies likewise or, is it acceptable to have a cross-over at any point?”
Well, if you thought bow ties are more a gentleman’s style then you thought wrong. Women have been stealing the look for years. Did you know that the bow tie was a strictly male accessory until the 1920s? It officially crossed gender lines into women’s wear in the 1920s and 1930s thank to the silver screen stars Marlene Dietrich and Katharine Hepburn. These two women were known for their male attire. They loved wearing tailored suits, top hats, button down shirts, and of course, the bow tie. An element of androgynous style, the bow tie has been adapted by fashion-conscious women and given a feminine twist since the beginning of the 20th century.
A woman wearing a bow tie is undeniably sexy. Seriously, have you seen a woman in a bow tie? They look great! The look is regal mixed with flirty sass. Bow ties give a look of fierceness to women. Be honest, who doesn’t want to look powerful?
Just last week I was wearing my bow tie for an event when I was one of the speakers. It feels empowering. I probably felt the same way as the first lady wearing her first pair of pants 😉
How to wear it well? There are tons of ways for women to style ties in ways cute enough to get the attention of any street-style photographer. And Remember that to wear a masculine piece memorably, you counter it with a big dose of femininity: red/wine color lips and jewelries are more than welcome to pair together with the bow tie look.
The bow tie look can make you stand out from a sea of dresses. It makes a confident statement that you’re at ease with your femininity – you don’t need to be in a floor length pink number to feel womanly.
I wear mine to make a statement. To be seen. To let it be known that I do not, and will not, conform! That I am shepherd, not sheep. That I’m the person with courage, with my own ideas and my own unique style. While I may be the lone bow-tie wearing lady in the office, party, a charity event, I know that I’m not alone in spirit! As a matter of fact, japanese brand Tiednista ( tiednista.com )launched the women Bow tie/tie line. They have plenty of interesting patterns and unique designs.
So, ladies, now that spring soon will be here, we can put away our scarves and find new ways to accessorize – with bow ties! Go ahead and try a bow tie! Just make sure you let the bow tie steal the show. Make sure you wear something which will keep you bow tie in focus rather than your entire ensemble. So, opt for something mute so that your ensemble is all about the bow tie and of course about you! Find the one or dozen that screams your personality. Rock your look with confidence, and you are ready to rock the world!
