???Dress like a woman???

As the quote says, “There’s nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.”

Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, and everyone is even allowed to have an opinion on other people’s clothes. Heck, some of us have turned that right into a profession.

Across the Internet you’ll hear people claiming that women are seeking for attention in the way they dress. All of us. Period. That is an unfortunate casual oversimplification. They think that the way ladies dress, is all about sending a certain message to the next person and in the case of ladies this next person would be a man and due to this common misconception people are not free to wear what they want wherever and whenever. Blame it on genetics or society or whatever you want, but all women have felt the unwanted pressure of other people opinion — especially when it comes to how we look. After many years observation I noticed that men, for example, want women to wear tight clothes, but not too tightDress like they could take you to meet their parents, but not too boring. Wear clothes that would make other guys jealous, but not so jealous they’d want to hit on you. Basically, they want everything and nothing in the same time.

3

So, pleas hear me here! Contrary to what you might have been told, women don’t dress to please men or anyone around.

Yes, there are plenty of times in a woman’s life where she dresses up in hopes to drop one or several men to their knees. Sure, it’s nice to be admired and maybe some women do dress purely for public approbation, or, more specifically, male approbation. But in my extensive experience of being a woman who wears clothes and hanging out with a lot of women who wear clothes, I feel I can say with some certainty that 80% of the time, that’s not the case. Because for women fashion is, at heart, all about ourselves. Fashion allows women to enjoy themselves and try out different looks and just have some fun. For both – men and women alike, fashion is a form of self-expression, and just as an artist’s style grows and adapts over many years, so does our sense of personal style. The clothing that we wear is, in many ways, a projection of what we are going through emotionally and mentally at a given time. After all, if you’re going to spend your own hard-earned money on a garment, at least you should enjoy the garment and feel comfortable and confident in it. You should not spend money on something you don’t like but think someone else will. That is just obvious common sense.

4

Women choose their wardrobe based on a lot of factors, including but not limited to: functionality, comfort, pattern, fabric, visual appeal (in the form of cut, style, and appearance), trends, emotional state, mental state, and iconic influence. To assume we are all walking around in short skirts because we are seeking men’s attention is absolutely absurd. I wear short skirts because I enjoy the feeling of sunshine on my legs. Period. The simple truth is that most often, when a woman wears clothing that shows the curves of her body or reveals her skin, it is because she likes the way she looks, and feels good in the outfit. She may be trying on a new style, she may be on her way to see her fiancé who has been overseas for six months, or she may simply be enjoying the warmth of the sun on her skin.

Continuing to limit the clothing options for girls and women and categorizing certain items as being too distracting or inappropriate teaches us to believe that our bodies are somehow shameful, when instead we should be teaching young boys and men that a woman’s body is her business and no different than a man’s body in terms of worth.

Just because in the past judging women negatively for less modest fashion choices have been the norm doesn’t mean they have to be. While modest clothing may feel best for some women, for others it feels restriction of who they are. Why should we have to hide our bodies if they’re a natural part of who we are as people and as a species?

Personally, my fashion choice varies between full-coverage and skin-baring attire. I enjoy clothes that hug my curves, as well as baggy layers that hides everything. And it seems to me that we’ll be best spending less time judging the women around us for how much clothing they’re wearing or not wearing, and more time exploring ourselves.

6

Women wear crazy, fashiony clothes, showing their curves or putting buggy layering on for themselves, not for men or anyone else. And, more than that, women don’t care. Perhaps the most annoying gender generalisation some internet articles make is the suggestion that women don’t know that most men don’t like their harem pants, their oversized sweaters or high-waisted jeans. Women aren’t stupid, you know. They just don’t care. And that’s just great. Because no matter who you’re with (or without), you should be able to wear whatever the eff you want.

Butterfly effect …on men

Mini dress, yoga pants, tied top… All those things appeal to the sexual desire men have for women, which is fine, but despite those, there is one thing men love to see women wear that have absolutely nothing to do with sex.

And that accessory, is things you’re going to want to know because, upon first impression, if you can pique a guy’s interest in a way that is nonsexual, you have already increased your chances of forging a real connection with someone outside of one that is purely sexual.

So if you’re a woman who is looking for a man – not a man with benefits – don’t immediately start aping your sex appeal to lure in the wrong guys whose romantic desires don’t align with yours.

Try wearing something as simple as a bow tie and lure the RIGHT guy in for the RIGHT reasons.

Your first thought after I said bowtie must be: “Is it acceptable for a woman to wear an item that is traditionally the provenance of men, either casually or in the work environment? Should gentlemen stick to gentlemen’s garments and ladies likewise or, is it acceptable to have a cross-over at any point?”

Well, if you thought bow ties are more a gentleman’s style then you thought wrong. Women have been stealing the look for years. Did you know that the bow tie was a strictly male accessory until the 1920s? It officially crossed gender lines into women’s wear in the 1920s and 1930s thank to the silver screen stars Marlene Dietrich and Katharine Hepburn. These two women were known for their male attire. They loved wearing tailored suits, top hats, button down shirts, and of course, the bow tie. An element of androgynous style, the bow tie has been adapted by fashion-conscious women and given a feminine twist since the beginning of the 20th century.

A woman wearing a bow tie is undeniably sexy. Seriously, have you seen a woman in a bow tie? They look great! The look is regal mixed with flirty sass. Bow ties give a look of fierceness to women. Be honest, who doesn’t want to look powerful?

Just last week I was wearing my bow tie for an event when I was one of the speakers. It feels empowering. I probably felt the same way as the first lady wearing her first pair of pants 😉

How to wear it well? There are tons of ways for women to style ties in ways cute enough to get the attention of any street-style photographer. And Remember that to wear a masculine piece memorably, you counter it with a big dose of femininity: red/wine color lips and jewelries are more than welcome to pair together with the bow tie look.

The bow tie look can make you stand out from a sea of dresses. It makes a confident statement that you’re at ease with your femininity – you don’t need to be in a floor length pink number to feel womanly.

I wear mine to make a statement. To be seen. To let it be known that I do not, and will not, conform! That I am shepherd, not sheep. That I’m the person with courage, with my own ideas and my own unique style. While I may be the lone bow-tie wearing lady in the office, party, a charity event, I know that I’m not alone in spirit! As a matter of fact, japanese brand Tiednista  ( tiednista.com )launched the women Bow tie/tie line. They have plenty of interesting patterns and unique designs.

So, ladies, now that spring soon will be here, we can put away our scarves and find new ways to accessorize – with bow ties! Go ahead and try a bow tie! Just make sure you let the bow tie steal the show. Make sure you wear something which will keep you bow tie in focus rather than your entire ensemble. So, opt for something mute so that your ensemble is all about the bow tie and of course about you!  Find the one or dozen that screams your personality. Rock your look with confidence, and you are ready to rock the world!

Is it a hoodie? Is it a dress? It’s your new favorite wardrobe piece!

Hoodies once thought of as something you only wore when you were feeling lazy and didn’t want to look put together, are currently enjoying a moment in the fashion world. The hoodie dress – a star style for spring, which you can and should begin adopting now.  It can easily be dressed up or down and offers that sexy, “I didn’t try” vibe, along with the actual warmth and coziness you crave as temps continue to chill. The sweatshirt dress is still feminine but with a huge comfort factor. It’s the ultimate win-win for any girl.

Many fashionistas addicted to this style could take a sigh of relief: why should we get crazy looking for the perfect match between top and bottom, if we could be cool and comfy at the same time with just one piece? Hoodie dresses became the must have style to keep in our closet (you can steal them also to your boyfriend’s one though, especially if he’s a basketball player!)

How to wear them?

The thing that I really love about the hoodie dress is that it is so easy to pull off. Most of them are loosely fit that you just don’t need to have the fittest body to look good with it. For those of you who don’t like the way the dress is so short, you can simply wear shorts under it. Some cool girls also like to style them audaciously with sparkling sandals and ankle boots, others match them with maxi skirts, for a pure oversized look. Or you can keep things much more casual by wearing yours with leggings and sneakers. The key to keeping it stylish is to pick a textured sweatshirt, and add chic accessories like a hat, clutch, and nice jewelry. A hoodie dress can make you look like the picture-perfect example of cool girl street style.

Hoodie dress is a fun fashion alternative to jeans and your everyday hoodie! You get the pockets, the hood to pull over your head, and you have a chance to put together a sporty chic outfit. Which one of these outfit ideas is your favorite? How do you wear hoodie dress? Tell me in the comments!
